    Description

This is truly a classic when studying the US Army on the frontier, especially from a wife's point of view.  Martha Summerhayes was very early in Arizona Territory, in the early 1870's and she documents all aspect of life with detail and humor.  Her description of the servant provided her in her time on the Colorado River is terrific.  It was an Indian clothed in practically nothing. Martha was from New England and was a proper woman.  Her adjustment to her new life is really fun.  This edition includes a detailed index and is in VG plus condition.  326pp, illustrated with rare photos and includes a large fold out map of Arizona.
