  • Condition: This one is in good condition. It has a cloth binding which shows normal wear and some white stains on the spine. The embossed gold cover art has faded. The pages show light browning, especially to the inside covers and pages. There are names written in the front from previous owners. There is no other writing in it, folded corners or user damage. The book is hand bound and the pages grouped such that you see the binding between groups of pages in several spots, especially the middle point. The spine appears tight though.     Description

    This book is titled The Fairy Phlox and other Verses.  It was the only book written by the author, Elizabeth Rodhouse Creglow, 1882-1970.  She was a graduate of Oberlin College in 1905 and worked in librarian services for the Veteran's Administration.  Couldn't find much more.The book is a first edition, copyright 1931, published by Richard G Badger of the Gorham Press from Boston.  Badger did self publishing where the author's themselves pay for the books to be created.  I don't know how many copies of this were printed, the Gorham Press was sold in 1932 and I haven't been able to find ANY other copies of this book online.  It has six pen and ink illustrations by Velura McCain.  The book is small, measuring 7-3/4"x 5-1/4" and has 61 pages.  One of the pictures shows the table of contents so you can see the names of the poems or short stories.
