Up for sale is a hardcover book titled "The Autobiography of An Ex-Coloured Man"by James Weldon Johnson, with an Introduction by Carl Van Vechten.
James Weldon Johnson was a key figure of the Harlem Renaissance. He was a
man of many talents. Not only was he a poet and a distinguished lawyer and diplomat
who served as executive secetary at NAACP for a decade, he was also a composer who
wrote the lyrics for "Lift Every Voice and Sing", known as the Black National Anthem.
Published by Alfred Knopf, 1927, New Edition of the 1912 Classic book.
This is the first printing of the new edition.
211 pages, 5 3/4" by 8 1/4" in size.
This book is complete and in very good condition, with some discoloration to the
front and back cover boards, the spine is darkened. Inside pages are very clean,
no markings. The books lacks the dust jacket.
