    Description
    Original and rare 1883 authentic Army bound book of all 125 Court Martials for the year 1883 under direction of the Military Division of the Pacific at Alcatraz Island California when it was a fortress and recently named a Military Prison. It's Commander early that year was Major General Schofield plus his brother, 1st Lieut C.B.Schofield was also stationed there and officiated over several hearings, his ink signature is seen twice. Most hearings are presided over by Adjutant General John C.Kelton who ink signs just about all of the 120+ forms, along with the Alcatraz Island Headquarters date stamp placed after each one. These are the only signatures seen.
    Book contains many dates from January 1883 thru Jan 1884 when all 1883 cases could be completed. General Sheridan is in Command for a time plus General Pope and General Sherman in October 1883.
    Book is in sound condition and Army bound with a partial long staple and it has come apart somewhat but looks complete and is an interesting read containing much history. Very clean pages with no musty odor problems and some minor wear of outer pages. No cover but has back cover.
    A very good & rare addition to any library.
    Book measures just over 5" X 8" inches.
