Hardbound in good condition with dust jacket, 337 pages includes a FOREWORD and Tablet of CONTENTS, measures approximately 5 ¾" x 8 ¼".
The jacket presents an illustration, a painting by John Alan Maxwell, that of the Bounty mutineers setting adrift Capt. Bligh and those crew members who remained loyal to him. Age toning is noted to the rear panel and minor wear to the edges, but no chips or tears of significance. This is a "Book Club Edition", no price stated but neither are the corners clipped. The jacket has been placed in an Archival Quality clear Mylar jacket cover and makes an attractive display.
The boards are covered in blue cloth with an attractive design and titles blind stamped in navy. The surfaces are clean and straight with modest wear to the corners and ends of the spine, a bump to the lower front edge near the spine, but no fraying, fading or broken corners.
The interior reveals clean, tight contents, hinges completely intact. Only slight age toning is noted, no foxing and there are no ownership indications, no marks, creases or tears.
"In the annals of the sea there is no more fascinating story than that told in this novel § the story of H.M.S. Bounty, which set sail from England in 1787 bound for Tahiti. In charge was Lieutenant Bligh, a harsh taskmaster. Interminable storms lengthened the voyage, rations ran low, and as his temper increased, Bligh raged at his underfed and embittered crew. The halcyon days that followed their eventual arrival at Tahiti, the soothing influence of the women and the fresh food, quieted the men. But shortly after the return voyage had begun, Bligh's tyranny once more brought rebellion to the breaking point and with the island still fresh in their memory, the men suddenly rose in mutiny."
