This is a terrific piece of Herbert Hoover history! It is an original 54 page softcover book (more like a thick booklet) called "Uncle Bert: A Biographical Portrait of Herbert Hoover". It was written by his niece Hulda Hoover McLean, who was prolific in researching and handling Hoover family history.
There are many interesting and UNIQUE things about this item:
a) This is the ORIGINAL blue cover edition published in 1974, which is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to locate!
b) It is signed TWICE by Hulda Hoover McLean, once "To Charlie + Edna Weatherholt" (family members)
c) The second signature is on the title page beneath her name, and above a candid black and white PHOTOGRAPH taken in 1928 of Hulda Hoover McLean with Herbert Hoover
d) The book's recipient, Charles Weatherholt, typed up two pages (reduced size) of VERY INTERESTING notes about his rememberances of Herbert Hoover and his fascinating associations with him.
e) Charles Weatherholt has also penned three sentences about family connections beneath a black and white photo of his grandfather, George Washington P. Hoover.
The late Charlie Weatherholt was a friend of my late uncle; at various times in their lives they did intelligence work for the military. My uncle compiled autobiographical and other writings, correspondence, notes, printed matter, photographs, as well as biographical material on Charlie Weatherholt, which is in the Stanford University archives. This book, which is in nice condition with a tight spine and a black and white photo of Herbert Hoover glued to the front cover, came from my late uncle, who received it from Charlie.
