Description
JUNETEENTH AT COMANCHE CROSSINGby Doris Hollis Pemberton
A well-known Texan journalist offers this rare and moving account of African American history, centered in Limestone County, TX, home of the Booker T. Washington Park near Comanche Crossing.
This 1983 hardcover first (and only) printing is signed by Pemberton on the first page, with a warm, non-personalized inscription, dated in the years of publication. Very rare thus.
The book remains in very nice condition. The jacket is sharp, with minor handling, including a few closed, tiny tears at the top edge. The book itself has few signs of age or handling except for a scattering of notes in the margins in light pencil; these could easily be erased but may be of some interest. There is a small ink stain in the margin of one page, likely a printing error.
An above-average copy of this highly sought collector's item. Currently there is just one other signed copy online, listing for almost three times this price.
Measures 6.25" X 9", xiv + 332 pages, illustrated with nearly 150 photographs.
