First edition thus, a centenary reprint published on occasion of the centenary of the first edition, expanded with "Historical Preface and Notes" by Tanner. 12mo. 130, [1]pp. illustrated reproducing in facsimile the title pages of the 1817 first edition of the *Doctrines and Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church* and of the 1829 edition of the *Appendix to the Form of Discipline of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.* Contemporary ink rubberstamp on front cover: "Compliments of W. U. Sch. Of Religion," and on blank front flyleaf: "Compliments of W. U. Sch. Of Religion/ Bishop N. W. Williams / Rev. F. D. Jordan, Pres." Light wear at tips of spine and extremities, tiny chip at base of spine, a very good or better copy. Uncommon. Not in *Blockson* or *Work.*
