Chinese Red Cinnabar 12.5" H Vase Carved Flower Blue Enamel Over Brass Elaborate
Mid 20th. Century Chinese Carved Cinnabar bud vase with lots of details. The main scenes on one side are peony flowers growing alongside rocky outcroppings and on the other chrysanthemums. Traditional multiple floral & scrolled borders finish the upper and lower sections.
The body is cast brass with a blue enamel coating.
The flower carvings have meaning in the East as they are thought of as signs of divine and radiant energy.
The decoration on these vases refers to two of the four seasons: the peonies denote spring, whereas the chrysanthemums stand for autumn.
Beautiful vintage condition. No chips, cracks or damage. One spot on top of the ring.  Please see all the photos as they are part of the description.
