This book, in a bilingual Armenian-English edition profusely illustrated, showcases the history and art of Armenian silver-making.
The present work pertains mainly to the Armenian silver-making of Van and its surrounding areas, as well as those silver-making traditions that the master craftsmen of Van helped flourish beyond the borders of Turkey following the events of 1915. Thus included are chapters on the history of Van as well as its culture, demographics, professions, and, chiefly, it crafts. Furthermore, for an appreciation of silver-making within the broader context of Armenian culture, sections are devoted to the history of the Armenian people, and, to a lesser degree, the traditions and developments of Armenian silver-making beyond Van.
Chapters on the history of Van as well as on its culture, demographics, professions and crafts also feature prominently in the book. This is a comprehensive study that will be of interest to anyone intrigued by Armenian art or the history of the Armenian community in the Ottoman Empire.

«Երբ իբր նիւթ ընտրեցի արծաթագործութիւնը, Վանը ինքնաբերաբար եւ առանձնապէս յառաջ եկաւ մտքիս մէջ, տրուած ըլլալով իր անզուգական ու հսկայ սատարը հայ արծաթագործական ժառանգին։ Այդ ժառանգի բաղկացուցիչ ու կարեւոր կեդրոններէն եղած են նաեւ Պոլիսը, Կեսարիան, Իզմիրը, Իզմիթը, Տրապիզոնը, Կարինը եւ Տիգրանակերտը։
Ներկայ աշխատանքս կը վերաբերի գլխաւորաբար Վանի ու շրջակայքի հայկական արծաթագործութեան, ինչպէս նաեւ արծաթագործական այն աւանդներուն, զորս վանեցի վարպետները ծաղկեցուցին Թուրքիոյ սահմաններէն անդին՝ 1915ի դէպքերէն ետք։ Ըստ այնմ, գրքին մէջ տեղ տուած եմ Վանի համառօտ պատմութեան, մշակոյթին, ժողովրդագրական տուեալներուն, ժողովուրդի զբաղմունքին ու յատկապէս արհեստներուն։
Իսկ արծաթագործութիւնը հայկական մշակոյթի ծիրէն ներս գնահատելու համար, աշխատանքիս մէջ բաժիններ յատկացուցած եմ հայ ժողովուրդի համառօտ պատմութեան, ինչպէս նաեւ, աւելի սահմանափակ տարողութեամբ, Վանէն դուրս հայկական արծաթագործութեան աւանդոյթներուն ու զարգացման»։
