Rare antique Ethiopian Coptic Christian handwritten Bible Manuscript
. This  Codex measures 5 3/8 inches long by 4 inches wide and is 1 3/4 inches thick

This Bible has two hand carved wooden covers on the front and back through which very fine holes are drilled and strung with string which goes through all the pages to make a very simple yet effective binding. The wooden covers are fitted with a vintage, hand sewn animal skin  covering them. two animal skin travel pouches. The older pouch one fits the book. The other I believe contained an additional book which I do not have   The pages are made of goat skin called vellum that has an amazing parchment like texture. The writing is in black and red paint or ink (red usually being reserved for the names of God, Saints and the Holy Family) made from plant juices.   From my research and Im no expert, the above description is what I think it is. Leave it up to you. The photos of the pages represent the overall condition of the book. Few minor small stains here and there. just a few. Very little wear . The binding is tight and the book boards are all in great condition. The leather pouches are pliable and in great shape. One painted page at the beginning of the bible in great shape. See photo.
