    Description

Scarce “First Edition” published by David McKay in Philadelphia.
In the Queen's Gambit, Elizabeth Harmon received Reuben Fine's book "Modern Chess Openings". This is Fine's follow-up publication to that book, " Basic Chess Endings" or BCE.
It’s easy to find a reprint of this important chess book. It’s not so easy to find a true 1st Edition, published in 1941.
    Size: 7.5" tall x 4 3/8" wide.
Condition: two minor bumps /bruises on back cover; one small spot on front cover; spine is sunned; binding is super tight; pages are tanned and clean; no mottling; page 559/560 has a slight overhang from publisher/printer; no writing except for original bookseller’s price of “3.50 and initials” in pencil, inside back cover.
    Overall, a very fine copy.
