Vintage 1929 Portfolio of 50 Black & White Plates of French Artist's Animal Prints for Design, Studies, etc, Volume 1 Les Animaux Decoratifs, Written in French, Complete. This portfolio has 50 individual, unbound photo-litho plates of animal artwork by famous French artists that are in fine condition. They are printed on heavy paper stock. They come in a fold-over removable cloth boarded cover that ties on the side like a portfolio. The hardcover has some light soiling, wear & tears on the spine, fading, corner wear & it is bowed. The full name is:Les Animaux vus par les Meilleurs Animaliers: Volume 1 Animaux Decoratif, Written by Armand Dayot, Published by Editions D'Art, Charles Moreau, Paris France. Publication dates are 1927, 1928 and 1929. It measures 13 1/8" high, 10" wide and 3/4" deep. Inside there's an 8 page pamphlet that tells the artist's name of each work of art & its source. Be aware that it's all written in French! Some of the French artists include: Jacques Nam, G. Chopard, Leon Jallot, Jean Dunand, Roger Reboussin, Lacroix-Bravard, Pierre Olivier Dubaut, etc. There's 50 black & white plates and the set is complete. There's two illustrations on most of the pages, a few have three. The prints include all kinds of animals, cats, dogs, monkeys, birds, snakes, horses, tigers, lions, porcupines, deer, cows, perfect for design or animal study, art students, decorative purposes, etc. It's a useful set of artist animal prints for any art collector or animal lover.
