"Politically, he must be free-born, in the unrestrained enjoyment of his civil, religious, and personal liberty, and in the possession of an estate, office, trade or profession, or some apparent means of making an honest living, and working in his craft as becomes the members of this ancient and honorable Fraternity, who ought not only learn what is sufficient for themselves and families, but to lay up something for charitable purposes."
