VERY GOOD ANTIQUE CONDITION. This very rare antique volume has just been restored by a professional book conservator. The original boards bearing the legend “The Lone Star State” are intact, with a new morocco leather spine. The binding is firm. The text is clean and complete. Some of the pages have small personalized historical notations in ink, i.e., "This street bordered grandfather's farm," etc. (see photo). No torn, loose or missing pages.

This is a monumental and very rare history of Dallas County, Texas – early settlers, Indian troubles, organization of the city of Dallas and other towns, formation of local government, railroads and river navigation, etc. -- complete with biographical sketches of many of the county’s pioneers and prominent citizens. Almost as big as Texas itself, this massive volume weighs ten pounds and is more than three inches thick.
This handsome and important book also contains a special section paying tribute to America’s presidents, from George Washington to Benjamin Harrison (in office at the time of publication). The presidential profile are accompanied by full-page engravings of our chief executives. Portraits of greater Dallas’ most eminent citizens are also featured throughout the book.
