1890s Chicago Stencil Company Salesman's Samples Catalog Architectural Stencils

Salesman's sample illustrations published around 1890 by the Chicago Stencil Company. Complete, numbered set of 16 10 inch by 14 inch plates, a few in full color, most black and white or two-color (such as blue and white). The company provided stencils to allow builders/designers to stencil interior walls
with popular designs
. These 16 plates would have been shown to architects and clients, but they were not distributed directly to the public. Hence they were printed in very small numbers and are hard to find.
Plates in very good condition. Some tiny creases and pinholes from having been displayed. Most marked "Chicago Stencil Co." Two with artist/designer name "F. Gersdorff" and one marked "Otto Wiper."
