This copy was deaccessioned from the Massachusetts Historical Society. There is a vintage bookplate of the Massachusetts Historical Society on the front pastedown that has the handwritten date of May 3, 1870, and its blindstamp on the title page There are also a couple other stamps and marks here and there. The bookplate has a blue overstamp that reads: Cancelled / Massachusetts Historical Society.
These directories were produced as advertising vehicles, so there are ads throughout, many are very interesting and some with cool illustrations.
FAIR CONDITION: The front cover is present but detached, the spine covering is missing but the spine remains solid, the front and rear boards are worn through at the corners and edges, and are rubbed and soiled but the printing remains clear, handwritten at the top of the front cover is: "Torrance Thayer & Blanchard, 290 Main Street, Buffalo". Internally, there is a Massachusetts Historical Society bookplate, and some other stamps and marks, as noted above; there is some spotting here and there but overall the pages are tight, bright, and clear. The ads are really cool!
