    SUMMARY:
    Franklin County, Kentucky. 1829. Mr. William P. Roper & Jacob Swigert this day purchased at the sale of certain slaves late the property of Danl Weisiger under a decree of the Franklin circuit court the following slaves to wit - Doshia & his wife Milley - Jack and his wife Betty - Reuben, Americus, Joe(a carpenter) Kitty & her children John, Washington & Caroline, - Mana - Henny & her children, Mary, Jane, Silva & Ellenvina, Louisa, - Little Zach - Edward & Joe Holder- & do hereby agree to sell the said slaves to Lucy Weisiger, Saml P. Weisiger & Isabella Weisiger for the sum of fifty three hundred dollars; the sum of four thousand one hundred & forty three dollars and fifty five cents thereof to be paid into the bank of Kentucky.
    As our four several notes become due with the accruing interest thereon - the balance thereof to be paid hereafter according to our direction - the sale is not to be considered absolute until the payments are made, tho it is understood that they are to retain the possession of the slaves & to pay a reasonable hire for them if they fail to comply with this contract - In testimony whereof the parties have hereto set their hands this - 29 Sept: 1829 - Wm Roper / J.     William P. Roper
    (1776-1833) was elected to the Kentucky State House in 1805, 1811, 1814, 1816, 1817. He also served in the Kentucky State Senate in 1818 and from 1827 until his death in 1833. Concurrent with his terms in the Senate, he also served as a Judge of the Mason county Circuit Court. Roper died on 18 Aug 1833 during a cholera epidemic. Provenance: Marin County, California from the descendants of the Kentuckian Thomas Noble Lindsey.
    Capt. Daniel Weisiger III
    - He fought Indians with Geo. Rogers Clark, farmed in Franklin Co., built his home in Frankfort, and founded Weisiger House, the inn at Main & Ann Streets. Daniel was a City Trustee and served on many, many boards including the 1st two capitol buildings, roads, local bank, & a bridge. References to him are found in many early histories. He was the town's first Post Master & first Master of the city's original masonic lodge.
