1600 Geneva Breeches Bible. Never Trimmed. “Brainpan” for Skull Judges 9:53.

I previously sold my Bibles as prophecycodebook my eBay account was shut down or lost, so now I have a new eBay account. My latest Bible is a 1600 Geneva Breeches (“Brain Pan Bible”) that Finally found its way to America after spending 421 years in England and then Ireland and back to England again. It consists of the Old and New Testament including the apocrypha. It has 200+ year old calf binding and is tightly bound with strong joints. This Bible is untrimmed with beautiful borders. In addition the pages are white and clean as can be, with only very minor soiling. However, as can be expected from an untrimmed 421 year old Bible there are some frayed edges in the middle and especially as you get into the New Testament and some pages have tears and some dog earring, but none of that affects text in any way. Besides strong borders and clean pages, this Bible’s last 200 years are well documented and has the bookplates of 4 owners and 7 news paper clippings several of which talk about this very Bible, including the book plate and a newspaper clipping of Robert Daly Bishop of Waterford Ireland. Robert Daly is unknown today but very well known during the mid and late 1800s as bishop and was called the “ Protestant Pope” of Ireland as he is well known for speaking against the Roman Catholic Church of Ireland. Robert Daly had a vast collection of many old Bibles in his library when he knew he was going to die he had his collection put up for auction and interestingly the man that won this Geneva Bible was a Roman Catholic bishop named Bishop John Coffey of Ardfert and Aghadoe. Well here we are 121 years later and this amazing Bible with its amazing history made it through 421 years without ever getting trimmed and is up for sale. In conclusion, this 1600 Geneva Bible was owned by 2 bishops. It has untrimmed full borders. Two beautiful title pages, with a Jean-Baptiste Bourguignon d'Anville inserted map. (d’ Anville was a French geographer cartographer whose maps were used long after is death in in 1782. My guess is the map was inserted sometime in the 19 century.) Also this Bible is complete with the words “Brain Pan” used for skull in Judges 9:53. Truly a rare and beautiful piece of Geneva Bible history.
